So, Manning’s sentence was commuted. Good for Manning, I guess. Yet, those really responsible for motivating Manning to leak what he did, are fine and saw no repercussions.
Think about it – Manning, when he was still male, didn’t seem like the kind of person I’d entrust classified information to. He was the typical delicate wallflower little boy.
Yet, someone felt it okay to place him in charge of managing classified information, surrounded by ‘tough guys’. That’s painting a target on his back.
Then, his superiors felt it was okay to mercilessly make fun of him, hurting this delicate wallflower even further. From there to stealing data and leaking it, isn’t a big leap.
Manning belongs in jail, by all means — but so do his superiors and the people in charge of assigning him to that dept.
