Let’s discuss measles, and the most common argument from ‘vaccine critics’ – the people that argue “it’s just a rash and a little fever” need to come to terms with the fact that measles can (and does) kill.
Their frequent argument is that the MMR vaccine causes ‘seizures’ in small children and infants. This is a deliberate misdirection, using the emotionally charged word ‘seizures’ in combination with ‘infants/children’.
a) the seizures they refer to are ‘febrile seizures’ – muscle spasms caused by elevated fever.
b) febrile seizures result in ZERO neurological or physical damage to a child
c) febrile seizures last 1-2 minutes
d) most infants and small children experience febrile seizures, even unvaccinated ones.
e) the most important part – there have been near zero casualties from febrile seizures. ZERO.
Next time some vaccine doofus throws the “ZOMG SEIZURES!” argument your way, toss this back at him.
Most likely, they will respond with … silence.
